June Bugs

A lost month. If you've been following me since the beginning of the year, you know I've sort of been rating my months in order to determine if this is a good year. I sort of map out how I think each month will turn out at the beginning of every new one and analyze them after their completion.

Today was the last day in June... I think years from now, I'll look back and say it was the best June I remember up to this point... And yet I don't remember much of it at all.

Query: Where is my green skirt? The one with the deep pockets? I called the Gault in case I left it there with my black sweater. Niether was to be found. I then realized I don't know where my white capris are or my black ones for that matter. I know the little green vest is in my closet, but where's the white blouse! Ahhhh, I feel like someone's been taking away my clothes. In particular almost everything that I took to NA is missing.

That's what I feel like about June. It's been a blur. I only remember some things. Most of it is a black out. My friend told me that she used to feel this way if she got really drunk. I told her I've felt that way too. Reasons aside, the results are annoying to say the least.

Where is my green skirt?! I only got to wear it once. Do you think I'll ever see it again? Sigh. I'll never forget that skirt. Even if I never see it again...

Arrggghh!!!! I refuse to say goodbye to that skirt. I'm going to go find it, right now!

A destined romance

I went to a yoga class the other day. It was my first yoga class ever -- but I've done a lot of pilates and other tai chi/yoga/pilates combo classes. It was a good workout, it leaves you feeling very calm, but strong.

I was early for the class so I decided to say hello to a girl my age I've been seeing a lot at the gym. (Naturally), as I introduced myself she implied/ said that she had never noticed me before.

The point is her name is Rachel. Now, was this wrong, what I did next? She didn't seem offended. I asked her if she had a sister named Leah, she laughed and said her sister's name was Sara (I don't really know the spellings.) I see her sister in class too, but she wasn't at the yoga class that day.

I was walking away then turned back and asked her if she had a boyfriend named Jacob. She laughed again and said no, but she was just thinking as I was walking away that she should look for a guy named Jacob. Then she asked me why I had asked her that. I said something stupid about it being in her destiny and the yoga class started. I read a psalm of David out loud at the end of the class. A portion of Psalm 103.

She's still talking to me now. We're kind of like gym buddies -- which means we only talk after 1-2hrs of intense workout and only briefly, meaning we're at the gym to workout not to socialize. But still, I assume by the fact that she continues to be a gym buddy that my biblical references were favorably received.

What do you think?

black and white butterflies...

The black-and-white film opens with a wonderfully-fashioned credit sequence - beginning with an overhead point-of-view shot of a young girl opening and looking into a old cigar box of collected remembrances, valued treasures and trinkets, including:

crayons (new and used)
a mechanical pencil
two carved soap doll figurines - one male and one female
an old broken pocket watch
a skeleton key
a broken pocket knife
a spelling medal
a few marbles
jacks
an Indian head and Lincoln head penny
a chalk holder
and other minor objects

a blue jay, a robin, even a sparrow -- if you can... but not a mocking bird

we thought you'd be here by now

i shot an arrow into the air, it fell to earth i know not where for so swiftly it flew the sight could not follow it in it's flight

i breathed a song into the air, it fell to earth i know not where for who has sight so keen and strong that it can follow the flight of a song

long long afterward in an oak, i found the arrow still unbroke and the song i had sung from beginning to end, i found in the heart of a friend.

    Battle Royale

I just had a battle royale with the system today. Was it bloody? Oh, you better believe it. But, it was a tactical. No undue damage -- I hope. IE no civilian casualities. I prayed for gentleness and kindness and love all the way. But it needed to be done.

Goldie, do you have any idea of what you're getting into? (Jumping from the frying pan into the fire, I think. Believe me, messing with machines is easier -- way easier -- than messing with the mind.)

Well, call me. We can compare notes. Oh, bother, I'll call you. Where in the world are you? Boston, NY, So Cal, Isreal? Hey, are you back in Charles Village. Better not come back here without telling me. :)

Sorry, everyone for the cryptic note. Hope you had fun with it anyways.

    Power Naps

I feel a smidgen better. Just took a power nap. I read about power naps way before I started working. You just put your head on your desk and nap for 15 min.

When I was in Germany, I used to walk back home for lunch, set the timer for 15 min, and pass out in bed (with a gel eye mask on my face to relieve the stress of working with Lars and a dark eye mask over that to block out the sun.)

Actually, I remember people doing that at the Hop. They'd sleep on the couches in the library. I was always too tense to sleep there though. I slept in the Hut. (Goldie, where'd you sleep.)

Bad news, I left my black sweater in Kentucky. The one I bought from the H&M in Cologne. It's faded and doesn't fit, but I didn't want to lose it. :( I guess I'll call my hotel.

    bleeding hearts

So like I said, I just came back from this big trip. (Oh it was NA. Call for details if you'd like.) I am beat. I am so out of it, you wouldn't believe it. (As if you couldn't tell.)

I was wandering around yesterday and found a flower shop, I bought a bunch of bleeding hearts. I'm hoping Sunshine will come over tomorrow night to plant them with me. I've wanted bleeding hearts ever since I was a little girl. I always thought they were hanging plants. I also bought eucalyptus, and Mom is giving me some mint. So my patio is going to smell so awesome. Alos, a lot of these plants are butterfly plants so that will be cool. Mom keeps getting birds. They eat her soil. She has the most amazing recipe for soil, and the birds like it. Oh yeah, my hibiscus from a few years back died, it is totaly dead.

It's funny when I get exhausted I typically do wander around and eventually find some type of flower shop. In Heidleburg that happened, I bought an orchid plant and small orange tree (those were gifts though). In Hannover, I bought some bamboo, I wonder if Rita still has that bamboo...? I gave it to her along with the azaleas. I still have the pots. Maybe I should go check and see if she still has the bamboo.

Passenger to Frankfurt... now wouldn't that be nice.

    Hide and Go Seek

Okay, Okay, Okay, so maybe I did write two blogs back to back. Hey, you've written more than one blog in a day haven't you?

Word for the day: voluble... I think that's what I'm looking for. Maybe there are some other nice synonyms --- (Trish, little help here. Please don't say antidisen... blah I don't even know)

The thing is, I wrote a real blog today. My annual Racing Thoughts was published today.

    (pregnant pause)

Only thing was it was so very long, and so utterly random, I decided not to put it with the recent blogs. It's archived under a different date. it's hiding...

I'm being a little silly right now. But there you go, welcome to mariposas cosas.
