Hirajuku Girls

So today is the perfect day to say something about my trip to Japan. I was just dancing to some music I found on my pc from G. Stefani or someone... Hirajuku Girls. I didn't load it. Everyone uses my stuff without asking. But anyways I had fun dancing to it so it's all good. I was just playing stuff on windows media libray and her stuff came on. I had just come back from the gym. I had a lot of adreneline left.

Soooo... tangent line over. Let me back up a bit. Hirajuku is a popular hip city city in Tokyo I actually didn't even stop in. From what I here it's very unique though. Although, it's mainly a club scene. It's also a place for really wild and outrageous dressing. There's a word for dressing up like your favorite anime character. I don't remember what it is, but anyways. I kind of imagine Hirajuku to be like a drunk, dress up spot.

Japan divides up their cities into smaller cities. Ask my sister who's studying over there for a year right now. I really have no idea. Cities like Hirajuku, or even Asakusa and Shinjuku-- like the song says -- are so so stylish. I have never ever seen anything like it. I mean the Prada, Coco, Chanel, the expense is just amazing. I didn't know to expect that at all. So I found it like living in a Vogue magazine (with asian models -- a non exixtent concept). It's not everywhere, but I did see it in concentrated spots of Tokyo.

I went outside of the city to visit Hakone a small city that's on the fuji five lakes region. I hate giving cheesy descriptions. So I'll just show one of my pictures of Mt. Fuji and leave the rest to your imagination.

Skiing

Went skiing for the first time in my life. I say first because it won't be the last. I had so much fun. It was a blast. It's something I never saw myself doing. And I'm sure you'll want to know so I'll just tell you. I didn't spend the whole time tumbling down the hill end over end. It was actually not that hard to pick up.

I will tell you one funny story: I'll leave it mostly to your imagination.

icy hill...people standing around at the bottom of the icy hill...my coming down the icy hill...

...sometimes you can swerve sometimes you can't

Tea Party

I went to a tea party awhile ago. It was sweet. No really, it was very charming.

Actually, I was disappointed with myself. I like to think of myself as feminine and really appreciative of quaint, historic things. But I showed up in jeans and forgot to bring cash. I ended up cutting out a little early to run around from pub to pub looking for an ATM. All the other ladies had on really fancy dresses. They didn't wear hats or gloves (haha), but I think one person had flowers in her hair.

But I made a memory. If you have never been to a historic part of town, sat in a tea shop and been served cucumber sandwiches and scones by two maids in aprons, well you wouldn't quite know what I mean. So it was memorable jeans and all.

Bamboo

I am sooo disappointed about my template. The url seems to have disappeared. This german guy wrote it which makes it harder to find. It was so lovely. I have searched for another template, but they all are so stupid! Yes, I will use that word, stupid, stupid, stupid!

Sigh, I'm in a bad mood - turbulent is the best word to describe my current mood... and I'm taking it out on template creators. how pathetic.

*grins and laughs at self*

Petal Pushing

In the bleak of winter, the memory of the colors drew me back to the wooden box. Inside were wrinkled seed packets of every flower imaginable, from poppies and sweet peas to sunflowers and dahlias - each stippled in earthy reds, yellows and greens. Like obedient pupils, they sat upright in alphabetical order according to their scientific names, baring handwritten notes about their temperament: Happiest in the shade. Likes to be sung to. Isn't as fragile as she seems.

Cocoa Mole

Gosh, It's been an age! And I can't believe people still stop by and read this when I haven't posted in so long. (You are so awesome.)

Tonight, I'm going to talk about chicken cocoa mole. Mole is spanish for sauce and is more often paired to make guacomole (guaco is like spanish for avacado - go figure) I made chicken cocoa mole and thought it would be wonderful. It wasn't. It was horrible! Sigh. I have to go to my favorite blogger's site the cooking engineer (see his link to the right) maybe he has a better recipe. I planned a chocolate party this month and was going to make that. The chocolate pistachio pieces turned out much better.

I am having just the most wonderful new year. January was a great month. February has the potentional to be a disaster. But I think it won't be -- if I practice saying no and not over committing. I have updates about the close of last year. That will be forthcoming I promise.

For those of you who want to know. I started sitting in on a Fluids class at the Hop this week. I am totally in love. There's no other way to put it. Don't ask me why, but potential flow and complex analysis makes me feel excited. Isn't that wild?
